Sustainability
Sustainability is a huge part of who I am and what I stand for. I hope for a future in which our planet and people can heal, and every action I make is an step towards reaching that goal. In this section you will learn about some classes, clubs, and study abroad experiences that have taught me so much about sustainability.

Fair Fashion is a newer club on UGA's campus all about educating the community on the harmful nature of fast fashion, and how impactful the fashion industry is on our environment. Fair Fashions goals are to keep clothing local, educate and grow the community of knowledgeable consumers, and supporting local businesses. We accomplish that by hosting monthly clothing swaps, and end of the semester local business pop up event, and member educational seminars.
I got the opportunity to go on the UGA Discover Abroad -Warnell Hawaii Spring Break program for the '24 break, and it was an experience that has forever altered my perspective. I learned so much about Hawaii's culture, varying ecosystems, sustainability initiatives, biodiversity, native communities, and the progress they've made towards a greener future. In my sustainable Fashion class Spring of '23, my classmates worked on select projects centered around the concept of "Defashion". This term is all encompasing in the world of sustainability, and was coined as a way to grab peoples attention on how negatively impactful the fashion industry can be, especially in a capitalist economy. Our class got the opportunity to present our research at an exhibit in the Georgia Museum, as a way to hone in our skills of teaching others about sustainability.
